I had a couple of driving days. I first went to Des Moines, IA and drove through the city. I think I could’ve spent a couple hours there, but it was kind of chilly and cloudy. Next, was Cedar Rapids, IA. It wasn’t worth the stop. I ended up staying there for the night.
Today was the hike up to Grand Rapids, MI. I stopped at the largest truck stop in the world near Davenport, IA. It was as advertised. I was skeptical since I’d been to that Buckee’s in Oklahoma, but I was proved wrong. They had a full semi tractor and trailer in one area, a semi tractor that rotated in another, a restaurant, and two huge store areas.
Next to the truck stop was the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum. This place had tons of truck from the 1800’s up to the 1980’s. There was tons of information on everything trucking. It’s free so If you are ever on I-80 in Iowa, check it out.
I got to Grand Rapids, MI around 11PM and crashed for the night.
