I talked with my friend Dusty before I left and Found out he was going to be in Chicago the first week of November. I decided to plan my trip so I would be able to hang out with him while he was there. I left Duluth today to take the scenic route down to Milwaukee and see if there was anything going on for Halloween. I took the scenic byway that went all along the South shore of Lake Michigan. It was a very pretty drive and took a lot longer than expected.

I stopped in a little a town called Cornucopia, WI. This was a neat little fishing town that had some old fishing boats on display. Next to the park with the boats there was a public well that seemed strange to me. I went over to it, read the sign, and found out that it was a natural aquifer. There are a bunch of these around the lake I found out and they are very popular with the locals.
When I got over to it, an old guy drove up and started talking to me. I showed him my rig and he told me about when he traveled around with his family in a VW bus. I started filling my water tank from the well and another guy came up and asked how long I was going to be. I was pretty much done so I took my hose back and as I was reeling it up another local came over with a duffle bag full of water bottles.

A little farther down the route were a couple towns, Red Cliff and Bayfield. Bayfield had a park on the harbor point that I took some pics in. I got one of the ferry to the island.

The first part of the drive took so long that I didn’t get to go on the other scenic byway that I wanted to. It started getting dark so I hopped on the highway and made my way down to Milwaukee. I got into Appleton around 11PM and wasn’t in the mood to keep going on to Milwaukee so I set up camp for the night.
