10/4/2021 – 10/5/2021
I decided to combine these days since I did the same thing over two days. The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation was an amazing experience. If you ever go to Detroit take an entire day to check this place out. The museum itself took me 13 hours to see everything. I started out doing the Ford River Rouge Factory tour. This is also really cool if you are interested in hour F-150’s are built
The Factory Tour
First, I had to schedule a time when you purchase your ticket for this. They stuck me on a bus and shipped me ten minutes away to the River Rouge Factory. There are only two places where they allow phones or cameras to be out. I started in this theater with 360 degrees of screens and two robot arms in front. The movie starts playing and a scaled down F-150 come up between the robot arms. The movie describes the process that you will see in the factory. There are lights and a projector displaying what they are talking about on the model with the robots pretending like they are doing things to the truck.
Next is the observation deck and some cars that they built in that factory over the years on display. There is a person that points out all the buildings and some facts about the plant.
The main attraction was next. I got to walk around the the factory. There is a elevated walkway around the perimeter of the building that allows viewing of the entire process of building an F-150. Starting with putting the glass on a blank body and frame, to the interior, to the lights and decals, to finally QC and driving on the test track. All in, the tour lasted about two hours for me.
The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation
This was the best museum I’ve been to so far. They covered everything from the late 1800’s to now. There were sections dedicated to industry, home life, automotive, flight, trains, presidential vehicles, farming, and more. Ill let the pics do the talking. For me the most interesting was the industrial section with all of the steam engines, turbines, and generators.
