I left the park this morning and continued my way down to Portland, ME. I stopped by the Bass Harbor Lighthouse on my way our of the park.

On the way to Portland I crossed the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and went to Fort Knox. The bridge was a replacement for the Waldo-Hancock bridge from the 1930’s. This bridge has the tallest publicly accessible observation area from a bridge in the world. The fort was a huge intact fort from the Revolutionary War era. I was bummed that it was closed for the season, so I couldn’t go inside. It was named after the same person that the fort in TN is.

It started raining around 11AM and didn’t stop until I got to Portland. It was the hardest rain that I’ve driven through in years. I got to Portland, ME, had an ok supper at Docks Seafood, did laundry, and found a spot to park for the night.
