I made it to Philadelphia, PA last night. There isn’t a lot I wanted to see here so I knew I could get out the same day. Being here on Thanksgiving has positives and negatives. The main positive is that there are not people almost anywhere. The bad side is everything is closed. I parked over by Delaware River near the Independence Seaport Museum. Over here I got to see a few naval ships, USS Olympia, USS Becuna, and USS New Jersey.

Now it was history time. I went to Independence Hall, Liberty Hall, the Liberty Bell, The First and Second Banks of the United States, Presidents house, the Merchant Exchange building, Benjamin Franklin’s grave, and some houses from the 1700’s.

After that, I went through Chinatown to get to the Hard Rock Café in the city center. Then I went up to the Macy’s building and city hall. I would’ve liked to see the pipe organ in the Macy’s building, but Thanksgiving. On my way back I walked by the Edgar Allen Poe house and got a good view of the Benjamin Franklin bridge.

I got back to the van, made lunch, and then headed down to the stadiums, 76’ers/Flyers, Eagles, and Phillies.

I did miss out on the Rocky statue and steps, but it was all the way on the other side of the city and meh. When I come back to NYC maybe I’ll be able to make it down here to get the couple things I missed. Tomorrow I’m shooting for Baltimore, and down to DC.
