Today was boat day. I was in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA. I pulled into Portsmouth last night and got a haircut. I would not recommend Portsmouth, VA. It’s pretty rough. Lots of strip clubs and nightclubs.
I ended up doing the whole sightseeing thing in the hardest way possible. I started in Portsmouth, went to Norfolk, went back to Portsmouth, and then to Virginia Beach.
First I went to USS Wisconsin. This was a really impressive battleship. If you don’t know what an Iowa class battleship is, I recommend learning about it.
I was hoping to see boats here and, oh boy, did I see boats.
I wanted to get into the Naval base, but it seemed like a lot of work so I skipped it. At this point I bounced to Virginia Beach. I came to the beach at the right time. There was no one there. I got to see the statue of Neptune and had the beach to myself.
The theme of today was boats. There was still enough light to make it to Richmond, VA for the night. I did get to go to a couple of breweries before the end of the night though. I started at Triple Crossing and ended at The Answer. I chatted up one of the regulars at Triple Crossing and he recommended a bunch of places to me. Hopefully they’ll pan out. Triple Crossing was good. The Answer had a great atmosphere, but the beer was just ok.
