A quick update. I drove down to Colorado Springs, CO on the 26th. My heater died on me that night. It was a cold night in the van. I diagnosed the problem on Monday to being the glow plug crapping out. I ordered a new one, but it wouldn’t arrive until Wednesday. I ended up getting a hotel for Monday and Tuesday night.
Being a Super 8 it wasn’t amazing, but for $110 for two nights it was pretty nice. It was nice to be able to spread out a little bit and have a bathroom and internet available all the time. I mostly just hung out in the hotel room both days, ordered food in, played video games, and watched football.
I did find and really nice frolf course, Widefield Park. I threw like garbage for the front nine, but was doing better on the back before I threw into the creek. I found my disc right away, but it was on the other side. I found a narrow part that I could jump across. I took a few steps back, committed to the jump, and landed with my right leg on the other side. Disaster strikes at this point, my foot slides on the leaves, my leg goes straight instead of bending, and I hyper extend my knee. I collapsed on the opposite bank, holding my knee. I got up and tried walking it off before climbing down to get my disc back. I walk around a little bit and decided that I could finish the round.
After hobbling around the rest of the course, I decided it was time for a beer. I started at Knucklehead Tavern. This was a total biker bar. There were some regulars in there being obnoxious, so I got my $1 beer and left. The parts came in for the heater as I was leaving, so I went to pick those up.
I got the heater tore apart and replaced the filter and plug. I had heat again. I also ordered a DC/DC charger since my remote cutoff switch for the alternator crapped out too. That will be installed at a later date.
Next, I went to Dueces WIld Brewing. This place was really nice and had good beer. I ended up playing bingo there and trying pretty much everything on tap. I won a crowler in bingo. I haven’t done much since then. It got cold today and I’m going to head back up to Denver tomorrow.
For all of my Fargo friends and family, I’ll be heading back in a couple weeks I think. I’m excited to do Christmas at grandmas and see everyone back home.
