Today was the day I’ve been waiting for for a long time. I went to the Grand Canyon. I bought a national park pass so I don’t have to pay at every one that I go to. Anyway, I first wanted to go on a hike. I looked at the different trails and decided the Kaibab Trail was the one for me. It’s one of the more difficult ones that you can get to from the visitors center. This trail was supposed to take 2-4 hours round trip to ceder point. I crushed it in 1.5 hours. I sat at the point for about a half hour to take the whole thing in. The canyon makes everything look deceptively close. Everything is so big that it doesn’t look like it’s that far away. The trail took me about 1600 feet down into the canyon. Going down was way easier than up. The whole trail is pretty much stairs. I had fun crawling out to the very edge of the cliffs and stilling with my legs off the edge.
After I got back up from the trail I took the bus to some of the other points on the canyon. When I got to Pipe Creek Vista I hiked back to the visitors center on the Rim Trail. I didn’t get to see what was to the West of the visitors center, so I will be back tomorrow.
