Today started out full of ambition and then quickly devolved in to disorganized wasted time. I had big plans on getting up and going to the Houston Space Center. I started looking around at tickets and got confused between the Johnson Space Center and the Houston Space Center. I thought they were different things so I was going to go to the lights display at the Houston Space Center tonight and then the Johnson Space Center tomorrow. I ended up buying a ticket for the Houston Space Center for tomorrow because of said confusion. After beating myself up for a while I decided since my day was ruined I’d go to some of the places that were recommended to me.
I started by going to pick up my Amazon package that was on the far West side of the city, an hour drive. I then went to Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company in the First Ward, essentially downtown, another 30 minute drive. Buffalo Bayou was really nice. It was in a brand new three story building in a completely revitalized area. The first floor was the brewery, second had a restaurant, and the top was an open air patio and taproom. The city pretty much bulldozed all of the old houses in the area and new modern housing and buildings were built over it. This was also the Art district and there were art studios all over in the old railroad buildings. Buff Brew also had the best view of downtown Houston that I found.
After meeting and hanging out with some guys here I moved on to St Arnold Brewing Company. St Arnold is the oldest brewery in Houston. It was one of the biggest that I have see in the city. At the entrance they had a bunch of wildly painted cars. They had a huge outdoor taproom with a fountain and concrete tables. The inside looked like an old church with murals on the walls.
