2/8/2023 – 2/9/2023
I was planning on getting an earlier start today, but my late night messed that up. My plan was to blast all the way down to Vegas on the 8th and hang out until Ashley flew in on the 9th. I didn’t get on the road until 2:30PM. I took off toward Lake Tahoe since I’ve never been there. The drive was pretty until I got over the pass and BOOM, there the lake was. It went from pretty to beautiful in a second. As I got toward the city I stopped at Cave Rock to take some pictures.
When I got into town I first stopped at the Hard Rock Casino to get a pin and take some pics of the memorabilia.
After the casino I went to the beach. Lake Tahoe gets tons of snow, but no wind so it all falls straight down. The snow was piled up over six feet deep in some places. It’ s way different than the wind packed snow in the midwest. The weather today was amazing for hanging out by the lake. I only needed my light hoodie to stay warm.
I got back on the road around 5PM. I got back on highway 395 to take the mountain route down to Vegas. Around Mono Lake it started getting really foggy. By the time I got to Lee Vining, CA I couldn’t see more than three feet in front of the van. I pulled over at a gas station to fill up the diesel tank since I ran out sometime last night, and it was 30 degrees up here in the mountains. I found a place to park in town and waited out the fog until morning.
On the 9th it was still foggy, but not nearly as bad as last night. I stopped and got some pics of the mountains before getting to the desert and Las Vegas, NV.
