Today was a busy day full of museums. I started at the Castle Air Museum. This was a really nice airforce museum. Some of the standouts were the Avro Vulcan, SR-71 Blackbird, and the B-36 Peacemaker. I took a lot of pics here so I’ll put them at the bottom.

After leaving the air museum I went over to San Jose, CA. My first stop there was the Intel Museum. This museum was really interesting. They had examples of pretty much every generation of processor from the 4004, built in 1971, to the second gen Core processors from 2011. After the history of the company, there is a display of how the silicon is actually made. The museum isn’t huge, but they do pack a lot of information in. Again, pics below.

My next stop was at Levi Stadium to snap a pic of where the 49ers play. After that I went to Apple Visitors Center. Unfortunately you can’t get onto the Apple campus and all you can get to is a fancy Apple store. The most interesting thing here was the augmented reality display of the campus. They had a model of the campus on a huge table and they give you an iPad. As you move the camera on the iPad around the model it showed what the buildings are and you could look inside of them.

It was getting late and I was running out of daylight so the next stop was the Winchester Mystery House. This was the mansion of the Winchester family, that manufactures the guns. The history is interesting and can be found here.

Since it was dark I decided to do some brewery hopping in San Jose. I started at Strike Brewing Company. I hung out and talked to some of the locals to see where to go next. They recommended where I was already planning.

My next stop was at Clandestine Brewing. The staff was really nice here and they did flights in a way I’ve only seen in a couple other places. They give you five poker chips instead of a bunch of little beers. You turn these in to get the beer sample. This way you can stop at any time and use them the next time you come. The beertender gave me two or thee bonus beers too. They had just finished their strong beer week so all they had on tap were 8+% beers.

My final stop for the night was at Camino Brewing Company. I was only here for last call, so I didn’t really get the full experience. On my way back I saw a neat looking sculpture too.
