This was a long weekend filled with racing. It was Firestone Grand Prix weekend. I went to this race a couple years ago and I had fun then so I figured I’d go again. Main race day tickets were $60 and the whole weekend was $80, so why not?

On Friday I watched the lower league of Indycar do their qualifying race and the NASCAR Trucks warm up. It started raining toward the end of the races so I went downtown for some drinks. I was going to bounce around to a few places but got stuck at Thirsty First. I started talking to a couple and ended up hanging with them all night. There was a band that night that was surprisingly good. I rocked out to them until they finished their set.

On Saturday it was the big race for the NASCAR Truck Series. I got a seat right next to the fence by the pit lane. There was a couple big crashes, a few spinouts, and a lot of rubbing. It was a fun race to watch, but I was sunburned and exhausted from sitting in the hear for a few hours.

Sunday was the big race day. I skipped the races in the morning and just went to the main race at noon. I grabbed a spot in the park for half of the race. There was shade and grass to sit on there. For the last half of the race I went to turn five and found a spot next to the fence. You could hear the loudspeakers and watch the race on the screen from there. It was a pretty clean race with only one or two yellow flags i think.

After the race was over I got a call to prescreen for a medical study for $9700. I hope I can get in so I can pay myself back from replacing my engine last year.
