Yesterday I drove a few hours to get closer to my next stop in Georgia. I stopped at another Harvest Host, Brickyard Plantation Golf Club. They have both a frolf course and a golf course. I asked how much a round was and they gave me the member rate because I was a Harvest Host guest.

They gave me two nine hole courses with a cart, clubs, and a sleeve of balls for $25. The first nine was a links course that I liked, but ended up losing all three balls. Luckily I found one and made sure I didn’t lost track of it. The second nine was a water and woods course. I skipped as much of the water shots as I could. I was shot after finishing. I’ve been a pile this whole winter and swinging a club wrecked my bicep. It was really nice to get out again though.

I got a knock on the van door at 11AM this morning. I was still sleeping (I was tired last night). I get up, dressed, and went outside. The host of the site was out there to ask me how my stay was and gave me a logoed golf ball. Once I was fully awake I took off to Richland Distilling Company.

I took a tour of the only rum distillery in the USA. They are a three man shop that only bottles around 11 thousand bottles a year. I got to meat the whole staff and was showed the entire process. It was very similar to a whiskey distillery. They have won a ton of awards over the years including best rum in the USA. After the tour I got to sample all of their standards. The overproof was my favorite. I got to try their regular rum, beer barrel aged, port barrel aged, and unaged rum too. They have an 10 year XO and a super fancy velvet one too. I wanted to get a bottle to bring home and share with my friends, but a .375 was $65. Everything was super expensive because of the low volume. The tour was only $25 though and I got 5 shots so it was worth it.

On my way out of town there was an old Gulf gas station that was like something on route 66. My next stop is a museum in Alabama. I didn’t get up early enough to get there in time today so I’m staying at Folklore Brewing and Meadery in Dothan, AL tonight.
