4/30/2022 – 5/4/2022
The 30th was pretty boring. I got an oil change, a haircut, and then drove to Waco, TX.
On the first I explored downtown Waco. I parked at the Texas Ranger Museum and tried going along the river walk. This was partially fenced off and I had to do some hiking to get off of it. That whole section of town was under construction. I finally got downtown and found out that there is lots of free public parking. There wasn’t much to downtown, mostly 5 blocks on two streets. It didn’t take long to get through.
After getting back to the van I decided to go frolfing. There is a pro course and a casual course that were next to each other. I picked the casual one today. It was a fun course and was fairly easy. On Monday I went back right away to play the pro course. Of course my back was messed up from sleeping wrong and it was hot and windy. I played the first nine holes. I was throwing terribly and sweating like crazy so I stopped before losing any discs. This is a hard course. It had long fairways on the front nine and the back was all in the trees. There were a couple holes that you had to throw over water too.
After frolfing I took a shower then took off to Austin, TX. My first stop was the Austin Hindu Temple. They had some good architecture. I just hung out after that.
On the 3rd I drove to Shiner, TX to visit the Spoetzl Brewery where they make Shiner Beer. As far as Macro-breweries are concerned, this was a fairly small brewery and the staff seemed really tight knit. A lot of them got a beer together after their shifts. I tried a few of the beers that you don’t see very often. Their Shiner Premium is one of their best and was the pick of all of the staff. I liked the Mexican lager too.
Today I drove to San Antonio, TX. I’m writing this at the library and once they close I’ll probably head downtown to the river walk for some exercise.
