A couple of weeks ago I was invited to go to Las Vegas, NV with my friend Liz. Her parents have a condo there and she invited me to hang out for the week and show her around. Unfortunately the pool at the complex was closed for repair so there wasn’t any relief from the 100+ degree heat. I flew there on the ninth and we just hung out for the night. On the tenth we went to the strip. I parked at Circus Circus and we walked all the way down to Luxor. It was so hot out, but we stayed inside as much as possible.

We started walking back up the strip, again staying out of the heat as much as possible. By the time we got to Harrah’s we were exhausted and booked it back to the car. There was an art gallery at the Crystal Shops that had some cool stuff. I also got what will probably be my last picture of the Mirage.

On the 11th we were still wiped out from the day before we hung out at the condo all day. On the 12th we went to the Fountainbleu and a couple of dive bars before heading downtown. I haven’t been to the Fountainbleu before and I’ve been wanting to check it out for a while. It’s a really pretty resort and I would guess very expensive.

When we got downtown we got food at Evel Pie, one of my favorite pizza places in Vegas. We spent the rest of the night hanging out on Fremont.

On the 13th we took a drive out to Red Rock Canyon, the Hoover Dam, and Lake Mead. There is a really pretty loop that I like to take when I’m out in Vegas. The lake is still really low even after all the snow from the last year. We hiked up to the bridge overlooking the dam to get some pictures.

We decided to do a little brewery tour after we left the lake. We stopped at the MGM to get Liz hooked up with BetMGM. This way she can bet on the fights on Saturday. After that we went to the arts district since that’s where a lot of the breweries are. We got supper at Houston TX Hot Chicken. I’ve had beer hot chicken, but it was good. The first brewery was HUDL Brewing. I tried a couple of their beers and then we moved on. Next was Nevada Brew Works, essentially next door. This place was busy and had some good beers. I got a flight to taste as much as I could.

After the breweries closed we stopped at ReBar to get their mystery beers. They have a whole cooler full of single cans in paper bags and they give you one randomly for three dollars. On the patio they were playing commercials and TV clips from the 70’s-90’s. We were guessing what they were like a little game. I would totally go to this bar again.

There was one brewery that I found on the North side of town that is open 24/7, Big Dog’s Draft house. They are marketed as a Green Bay Packers bar, but the theme was pretty thin. They did have some memorabilia, but not much. They do have an awesome late night happy hour though. I got a flight and a pint before heading back. It was quarter to 5AM when we got back to the condo.

We slept in on Saturday then Liz took me to Steiner’s Pub since it was recommended to her then watched the fights at the condo. On Sunday we were so wiped out from the week that we hung out and played board games all day. Liz flew back early Monday morning and I flew back today.
