Today was an amazing day of sightseeing in one of the best places in the country. I started out coming into the South side of Grand Teton National Park. I stopped in Teton Village and at Schwabacher Landing to take pics. It was pretty smoky so it wasn’t as nice as it could’ve been.

I came out of Teton National Park and went right into Yellowstone National Park from the Southwest entrance. I drove up around the lake, up to canyon, back down to the lake, then out through the Southeast entrance. I wanted to go up to tower, but the road was closed from canyon to tower. The lake is a lot bigger than I expected. I couldn’t see from one side to the other.

On my way up to the canyon I stopped at the mud volcano. The mud volcano was pretty interesting. There was sulfur lakes, fumaroles, a superheated bubbling lake, and a steaming cave.

After the mud volcano I continued North to The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. This was by far the best part of Yellowstone that I visited. I wish I would’ve had more time to hike down to get some better pics though. The canyon was amazing. It was as magnificent as the real Grand Canyon, but on a smaller scale. The biggest downside was the amount of people everywhere.

Next, I was going to continue North to Tower-Roosevelt, but the road and Tower itself is closed this year due to construction. I didn’t have time to go all the way back around to get to the geysers so the canyon was my last destination in the park. I went back South to the East entrance and headed to Cody, WY.

I’m so glad I went this way. The Pahaska TeePee Wapiti and Shoshone National Forest area was another place I recommend seeing at least once. The road follows the Shoshone River from Yellowstone to Cody through the valley. There are lots of trails, ski areas, and campgrounds all throughout the area. There area tons of fantastic views from the pull off areas.

I had supper in Cody and took a short break then trucked it up to Billings. I saw the most deer, near and on the road, through this section then I did through the whole trip. I hate driving at night through rural areas.
