It’s Oktoberfest! I started my day in Hamburg, NY just South of Buffalo, NY. They said there was going to be a keg tapping at noon. I got there a little early to get tickets and see the show. Keg tapping here means that you can buy beer. They just gave a speech and started selling beer, it was pretty anticlimactic. The bands were pretty good. I found a sunny spot to sit and drink a beer. I expected to stay here all day, but it was pretty boring by myself and the beer was fairly expensive. I thought about entering the sausage eating contest, but decided against it.

I left Hamburg and decided to do a brewery crawl. I started at Frequentem Brewing Co. I found out this was just a tap house, they brew everything somewhere else. The beer was good and the staff was fun to talk to. The most interesting thing was that a horse drawn pub crawl walked up. I’ve never heard of anything like it before. I left just as a bus of people came in.

My next stop was Hartman’s Distilling Co. and Resurgence Brewing Co. Resurgence was fun, they were having an Oktoberfest too. They had a huge space and the beer was good. Hartman’s was really nice inside too. The drinks were fancy and the staff was nice. Across the field was some sort of entertainment area. It looked like a bunch of food, bars, and Ferris wheel.

Next was OSB Ciderworks. I really liked the cider and I had a really nice conversation with the bartender and the person next to me. Finally I went to Buffalo Tap House. All in all I spent less than $50 by having a hop passport.

I walked around downtown Buffalo a little bit before going back to the van. My phone was pretty much dead by the time I left and I struggled a bit finding the van. When I eventually got to the van I found I had a parking ticket on the windshield. When I parked I thought I was ok since there were several cars parked in front of me. After looking closer I found out I was parked in a bus area. Oops.
