After the Army and Navy museums yesterday I looked up if there was a Navy museum too. It ends up that there is a National Museum of the US Navy in Washington DC too. I was lucky and it happened to be the only day that the museum is open. This one wasn’t nearly as new or nice as the others. They are in the planning stages of making a new one. This is the only museum that you need an escort to get to on the base.
Since they are getting ready to move, a lot of stuff was under sheets or packed up. They did have some interesting stuff on display. They had the Alvin and Trieste submarines, interesting naval swords, a nuclear torpedo, a railroad gun, and a bunch of canons.
There were only enough exhibits to last about a half hour. I was waiting at the gate longer than I was actually at the museum. I had a lot of daylight left so I went to some breweries. I started at Beer Hound Brewing. They only had one beer that I liked. Next was Patch Brewing Company and then Decipher Brewing. Patch had a good porter and schwartzbier and Decipher had a good rye IPA.
