I got to Amarillo, TX last night and got a spot for the night since it was already pretty late. Today I decided to hang out in the city and check out some stores. I laid around until early afternoon. Once I got up for the day I went to get an oil change and go to the gym. Once that was done I went looking for some game stores. I found a couple, but they were really small and didn’t really have anything cool. Since that hike my back has been hurting me a bit and I wanted to move around.
I found a brewery, Six Car Pub and Brewery, in the area that I was in and took a walk downtown to get to it. It was a really nice building, but their selection wasn’t the greatest. Their food menu look amazing and not very expensive though. I found out that breweries in Amarillo were a new phenomenon in the last few years. I hung out there chatting up the bar staff and patrons.
This one lady that sat next to me was a know it all and I didn’t like her. A couple came in that were obviously either super high or super drunk. The guy was really weird and left right away to find an ATM. The girl sat on the other side of me and was slurring like crazy. The bar staff was having none of it. They told her that they couldn’t serve her alcohol and she was not pleased. She gave some bad excuse about having a medical condition that no one bought. The guy eventually came back and they left.
When I was done at Six Car I went over to Pondaseta Brewing Co. This place was also fairly new but had huge selection of beer. I started talking to these two guys and found out one of them was from Grand Forks and was here visiting family. It was improbable that I would find another ND’er on my trip, especially in this small of a city. I had a couple beers there and found a spot to park for the night.
