Today I visited the Western Museum of Mining and Industry. This was a very cool museum. Outside the entrance they had an old steam engine, steam shovel, a hammer mill, old rail carts and an engine, and some miscellaneous items. Inside they had two restored steam engines and a water pump in the main hall. These reminded me of the Ford museum in Detroit.
As I walked around the museum they showed the mining technology through time. They had a gold pan station where anyone could learn to pan for gold. They also had a bunch of mineral samples and a room with minerals that glowed under black light.
After I left the museum I went up the hill to a working replica of a hammer mill. As I was looking around the guys working in there fired the mill up. It was really cool seeing the process in action. It only lasted about a minute before the main drive belt came off and they had to shut down. Outside the mill were a couple of shaft elevators and a blacksmith shop. I went into the shop and there was a actual blacksmith working inside. He explained some of the stuff he was working on and showed some tools.
After visiting the museum I went to Voodoo Brewing Co for a beer and Trinity Brewing Company for trivia.

Hi Cody!
