Happy Halloween!!!
It’s been a long cruise so far. Some of it’s been fun, a lot of time it’s been meh. Sea days can get long and I usually end up playing video games. The entertainment hasn’t been very interesting. I’ve been playing a lot of trivia. There is a progressive trivia that has been fun. I missed it today. I slept in and didn’t look at the time. It’s been hot pretty much every day, I’ve been hanging out in the pool a lot. They usually have movies or sports in the evenings by the pool and I usually hang out in the water.
The food has been very mediocre. I wish they had a taco bar. They have pizza and burgers available everyday, but I want a taco. I’ve been to the dining room a few times and the buffet pretty much the rest of the time. Everything is bland. I guess they have to cater to the elderly crowd. I haven’t ad a spicy thing yet.
The ports have been ok too. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico was our first port. I forgot my sunglasses and sandals in the van so I walked into town with my parents to a Walmart to get stuff. They didn’t have any decent sunglasses, but I did find a cheap set of sandals. We walked to the beach after that. I outpaced my parents and walked about a half mile down then turned around. I got some glasses at a convenience store just before going back to the ship.

Huatulco, Mexico was our next port and it’s a really small resort town. I walked the beach and through town a bit. I covered the whole place in an hour.

Puerto Quetzal, Guatamala was next. I would’ve liked to go on an excursion here, but it was a 2-3 hour bus ride each way. I would’ve liked to see the volcanoes and where they filmed a scene in Star Wars: A New Hope. I ended up just checking out the shops in the port village and then finding a bar to have a couple of the local beers.

I met up with two couples that were doing a pub crawl a couple days ago. We started talking and I ended up joining them for the last two bars. They were all from Australia, one of the guys is a former professional rugby player and current CEO. They were really fun to hang out with and they can really drink. They invited me on the next crawl they do.
Yesterday we stopped in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. I got off the boat and the causeway had a nice breeze, but then I got into town and it was so hot and humid. I walked along the beach and then through downtown. The city was really run down and dirty. The mountains and jungles were really pretty. I walked for about two miles and my shirt was soaked. I found a bar and tried the national beers. I got into the pool as soon as I got back on the ship.

Today is another sea day, so I’m just hanging out again. I finally got a good cheeseburger for lunch. The last few have been so overcooked. I they don’t do busy times well. I’ve been waiting for my beer for the last 30 minutes and I’m about to give up on it. Our next stop is in Panama and then we go through the locks the day after. I’m really excited to see that. I’m going to have to get up early to see the initial ones. We get there at 6AM.
