A couple days ago on the 9th I went up to Winter Park on the North side of Orlando. I saw they had a historic downtown and wanted to check it out. I walked through the downtown and into one of the neighborhoods. Downtown is like a fancy version of downtown Fargo. Lots of shops, restaurants, and bars. There is a park that runs right through the middle of the town that is really pretty too. On the North side of town before you get to the houses there is a nine hole golf course.
Once I got into the houses I knew I was in a rich area. All of the houses were several million dollar homes. There were a few that were older and smaller, but the majority were huge mansions. There is one, right before the golf course called Casa Feliz. This is one of the original homes in the area and was moved across the street to make room for the golf course. I don’t know how they moved it without damaging the brickwork.
After my walk I took a shower and hit up a couple breweries. The first one was Ten10 Brewing. They are a heavy metal themed brewery with good beer and a great atmosphere. Next I walked to Ivanhoe Brewing. They were packed when I got there and I figured there must be an event. I found out they were hosting a watch party for the election of city console. People were talking to me and shaking my hand like I knew what was going on.
Yesterday I got a tee time for noon at the Winter Park golf course. I got placed with a group of three others. Thankfully they were as bad as I am. I settled in around the fifth hole and started making decent shots. The course was beautiful set right between downtown and one of the neighborhoods.
After golfing I went to an oyster shop to grab a beer and cool off before going to a brewery that looked interesting. At the oyster place I made friends with a patron and the bartender. The brewery is called Twelve Talons Beerworks. They had a few neat stouts that were good and the owner and staff are nice. They were hosting a party for the runners in the area. The runners all dressed like Santa and there were a ton of them.
Last night I was actually able to get some sleep at night and I slept in until 11:30. I hung out for a while then gave plasma and now I’m going to play video games until the library closes.
