Since my last post I’ve been beboping Tampa and St. Pete. On the 12th I went to Yuengling to try out their burger special and to get a stout that they just released that day. The burger deal is totally worth it. $11 for a burger fries and a beer. The stout was also really good. I don’t know how long it will be around though. It’s a limited in house release only.
On the 14th I drove to St. Pete for St. Patrick’s day. The last time I was here they had Grand Central shut down to traffic and there were tons of people out. This year the road was open to cars and there wasn’t really a crowd even. A couple bars were packed, but the majority were just busy. After walking around I went to Five Bucks Drinkery then posted up at @548, probably my favorite bar downtown. I had an awesome conversation about Lord of the Rings with one of the bartenders and then played pool until their specials were over.
On the 17th I went to a bar called Mahuffer’s to get a St. Patrick’s day beer. This place was recommended to me by someone as the best dive bar in town. After finding parking in Indian Shores, ugh, I walked in, saw how busy it was, and walked right back out. It might have been more fun if it wasn’t a holiday, but i didn’t want to fight for a drink in a bar that was that loud. After leaving the bar I took a walk around the Indian Shores since I’ve been lazy the past couple days.

On the 19th gave plasma, went frolfing and then visited a couple breweries to cool off. I found my first gators of the trip at the frolf course. I thought one of them ate my disc, I couldn’t find it.

The first brewery was Grindhaus Brew Lab. I’ve been here before and they have a cool vibe. The next was Clearwater Brewing Company. I really liked the beers here and they had a burger and a beer deal too. I hung out for a couple and watched the open mic for a while. There was an older guy that was pretty good. He had an awesome acoustic guitar by Emerald and his songs were a little anti government.

On the 20th I went to a concert at the Brass Mug in Tampa. When I got there there was a Ukrainian band, KAZKA I found out later, playing and people weren’t sure if this was the right night for the show. They finished up and the whole room cleared out. I didn’t know there was a big Ukrainian culture in Tampa.

Schism, a Tool tribute band, was playing their 25th anniversary show. Once they got set up there room started filling up again. I expected more of a crowd for such a long lived band. There had to be less than 50 people there. They put on a two hour set and then a jazz funk band, Up With It, finished up the night. Schism put on a good show and by the time Up With It finished I was one of the last two fans still there. Before I left I went to say hello to the band members and then took off.

On the 23rd I checked into that clinical study I posted about a while back. I’m happy that I got in. This will back fill that $10k I had to shell out for my new engine. I’ll be in here until the 31st so I won’t be posting until after that.
