About Me
Hello, I’m Cody. I am from Fargo, ND and, until now, have lived there pretty much my whole life. I went the college at North Dakota State College of Science and got my Associates degree in Computer Science.
There were several times, mostly in the winter, that I thought about moving away from Fargo. I was laid off of my job in 2008 and started to seriously look for jobs around the country. Instead of moving, I got lazy and bought a house in West Fargo and got a new job. I for the most part really like Fargo. I had close friends, a nice house in an upcoming area, a steady job, and I was close with my family.
In 2018 I needed a change in my life. Everything was very predictable. Get up, go to work, come home, make supper, watch TV, play video games, and go to bed. Rinse and repeat every day. On the weekends I would hang out with my friends and family, go to the bar/breweries, and occasionally take a short road trip. This is when I decided I was actually going to leave home.
In 2019 I was laid off of another job and it was the perfect time to start a new adventure. In June I put my house and vehicles on the market and bought a RAM Promaster. These were the first steps on starting my new nomadic life.
Over the course of three months I did a lot of research, planning, and started working on converting my van into the amazing thing it has changed into. In September, my house sold but I wasn’t quite done with the van yet. My car hadn’t sold yet either, so I had to move in with my parents until I finished up and got rid of the car. By the middle of October I had finished the van, but still had the car. I decided that I didn’t want to wait any more and put the car in storage for the winter and I would put it back up next spring.
This leaves us at the start of this blog. My aim is to have a travelogue of my trip and to help my vanlifers and let my friends and family know where I am.
