Today is brewery day in Grand Rapids. I figured that since Founders did a tap takeover in Fargo, I’d go to their brewery since I’m in the area. Before I went drinking I had to go to the new Dune movie. I found a theater that had it showing in IMAX format. It was a great movie and you should see it. After the movie I went to Mission BBQ for lunch. I was surprised at how good the BBQ was for being a chain.

After lunch I headed downtown to hit up Founders. I was going to do a brewery tour too, but they are booked out for a week. They had a lot of their staples on tap, but I was able to try a few that I haven’t had before. The staff and atmosphere were great and they had an awesome patio. I was planning on staying here and doing this writing, but they didn’t have any outlets so I could charge my laptop.

Next on the list is East West Brewing Company. This brewery is inside of an Indian restaurant. It was a strange combination, but it seemed to work. The restaurant smelled delicious.

The next few places I’ll combine all together. Harmony Brewing Company next. I chatted with a regular that suggested some of the places that I went tonight.
Sacred Springs Micro Taproom was a cool meadery/kombucha brewery. They had a small variety of flavors of mead and a big kombucha selection. The bartender let me sample one of the kombucha’s since I’ve never had one before. It’s ok. I wouldn’t order one, but it’s not bad.
Next was Speciation Artisan Ales and Winery. The beers weren’t my thing, but the wine and the taproom were nice. ELK Brewing was my second favorite brewery of the day. I chatted up the bartender until she closed and then ended the night at Meanwhile Bar.

Finally on my way back I came across this awesome looking building. I have no idea what it was, but the craftmanship was amazing.
