I left Chicago this morning and headed toward Springfield, IL. I have a separate page for all of my stops and pictures from Route 66. I’ll just be putting the major locations and my daily life here.

On my way to Springfield I stopped in Normal, IL. to get a shot of IL State.

Springfield was really neat with a lot of history. The first place I went was Abraham Lincoln’s house. There is a national park dedicated to it and it includes four city blocks that have been preserved to look like the late 1800’s.

After walking around the park for a while I went to a few breweries. The first was Obed & Isaac’s. They had a super neat building that was an original house from the 1800’s. The house was preserved, added onto, and converted into a restaurant and brewery.

The second one was Buzz Bomb. This one I didn’t care for so much.

The last one was Anvil and Forge. This place was pretty new and it had a strange layout. I think the owners have big ambitions, but are going about it too quickly. There is only seating in half of the tap room. The staff was friendly and the beer was good though.

As I was walking home I went by the capitol building and snapped some pics.
