I spent the day exploring Raleigh, NC. The last two days I’ve been pretty much just laying around waiting for the weather. I started off going to the farmers market, then headed downtown. I was able to cover pretty much all of downtown before dark. As I was walking the main corridor I found that the North Carolina Museum of History had free admission. I took in as much of the museum as I could before they closed. It showed the history of NC. I missed about half of it. Outside there was one of the 50ish replicas of the liberty bell.
A bit further down the road was the Executive Mansion, where the governor lives, and a bunch of the oldest houses in the city.
Next I visited the first plantation in the area, the Mordecai house. There were a bunch of building on the site, but none of them were labelled.
Next I went to the Morgan Street Food Hall. This was a big building with a bunch of restaurants in it, like a food court. There were some good looking restaurants in there. I made my way back to the van and headed to a brewery to watch the Vikings game.
I picked the Lynwood Brewing Concern to hang out for the night. They had a huge selection of beer to choose from and the prices were great. A guy sat down next to me and I started talking to him about the game and I found out that he worked in the solar industry here. I am really interested in the field so I asked him a bunch of questions and he he showed me what he was working on. After he left I talked to some other folks before I took off for the night. It was a really good day and I like this city a lot.
