Yesterday I drove to Memphis and looked for a place to stay for the night. This morning I got up and started looking for a place for lunch. I heard that Central BBQ was the place to go, so I checked it out. It was a popular place. I ordered the brisket plate with beans and mac n cheese. I’ve had better. After that I went to Memphis Made Brewing for a beer and to find out where the places to see in Memphis are. I was going to go to the zoo next, but there was only a half hour before it closed and I didn’t think it would be worth it. I went to the Crosstown Concourse instead. That place was really neat. It’s an old Sears distribution center that was converted into mixed use. There is retail and restaurants on the first floor, an art gallery on the second, and various offices on the other 5. The total size of the building is 1.5 million square ft. It was really amazing to see the pictures of the reconstruction.

Next I went to the Bass Pro Shop at the Pyramid. This is the largest Bass Pro Shop in the world. It was like Cabelas but doubled. They had live alligators, two aquariums, a fish pond, restaurant, and a hotel in the store!

I headed downtown next. I parked on Beale Street and walked to the rest of the places. Beale Street was alright. It was dead because it was Sunday. The waterfront was the best part. The bridges do a light show every so often. I walked along the water to the Beale Street Landing and through the parks on the water. After that I checked out some of the historical sites like the I AM A MAN monument, Church’s park, and Clayborn Temple.
