Yesterday I spent the day driving and stayed in St George, UT so I could get a whole day of seeing the national parks. I started off the day at Zion National Park. The park was absolutely packed with people. There were cars backed up all the way into the village. They have shuttles that pick up in the village, but there wasn’t any parking to get on them. The shuttles do get you into the part of the park that you can’t drive to though.

I decided to skip the shuttle and drove to the gate. There was ten minute parking outside of the gate so I pulled off to go get a sticker at the visitor center. When I got to the bridge outside of the visitor center a ranger stopped me to see my pass. Of course I didn’t bring it. I had to run back up to the van to get it, get a sticker, and get back to the van before I get a ticket.

I made it back in time and got back in line to get into the park. It took probably a half hour to get into the park. After I got in it was a beautiful drive. There were a few places to pull over and take pictures. I would’ve liked to do some hiking, but it probably would’ve sucked having so many people around.

After leaving Zion I started working my way up to the Glen Canyon Dam. I stopped to make supper next to a gas station and there was a cafe with a funny sign.

I got back on the road and made it to the dam overlook to take some pics of the canyon before going to the dam.

The Glen Canyon Dam is the second largest concrete-arch dam behind the Hoover dam and holds back one of the largest reservoirs, Lake Powell, in the US.
