I’ve been waiting for today for a few weeks now. It’s time for Dethklok and Babymetal!!! I saw Dethklok a decade or so ago and I was hoping I could get to this tour for a long time.
By the time I got there, there was already quite a few people. The show was at The Florida Amphitheater so it was standing only. The opener was Jason Richardson. He was really good. He played only instrumentals with a drum machine.
The next band was one that I’ve wanted to see for a long time, Babymetal. They are a Japanese female fronted metal band. If you’ve never heard them before check out Chocolate. I was surprised at how many people came just for them and then bounced immediately after. By the time they started the venue was packed. There had to be thousands of sweaty metalheads in the Florida humidity. The band put on a really fun show and I’m happy I got to see them.
Now it’s time for the main event, Dethklok! For those of you that don’t know, they are an animated band for the TV show Metalocalypse. For the whole set, the real band was in the dark and they played animation on the big screen behind them. They played some old stuff and some new stuff that I didn’t know. Brendon Small (voices, lead guitar, and frontman) did an amazing job along with the rest of the band. I love their style of music so much. I had such a good time.
