I’ve spent the last few days driving up to Lake of the Ozarks. It got too late for me to get up there on the 1st so I stayed in Springfield, MO to take a shower. I’m glad I did stop there, I really like the city. It’s very similar to Fargo, but with hills.
I checked out a couple of breweries while I was there. Springfield Brewing Company was really nice. They were very established and had a full restaurant, distillery, and brewery. It was also nice that they were on the Pub Pass so I could get a free beer. The second place I visited was 4 By 4 Brewing Company. The girls that worked there were really nice and they told me about the town.
On the 4th I finished my trip up to Lake of the Ozarks. It is the off season so it was kind of boring, very pretty though. I started at the dam and then checked out the main strip. I took off to Kansas City after that.
I got supper at Joe’s Kansas City BBQ, which was on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. The burnt ends were really good, but the ribs were just OK. After that I brewery hopped getting free drinks all night with my pub pass. That thing is totally worth the $5 per month. I started at Torn Label Brewing Co., City Barrel Brewery, Double Shift Brewery, and finally The View. Torn Label had trivia and it was so loud. City Barrel didn’t have beer that I liked, but the atmosphere was really nice. The beertenders at Double Shift were fun to bs with. They were trying to figure out what they were going to wear for Halloween. At The View I met another van lifer from ND. It was fun sharing stories and showing off each others setups.
