I was debating on leaving for Denver yesterday after the tour or staying another night to wait for the Hill Aerospace Museum to open. I’m really happy that I decided to wait. I got up early again to get there right when the museum opened. I had the place to myself for about a half hour. By the time I left there were bus loads of people showing up. I’m glad I got there when I did.
This was one of the better air museums in the country. They had some really nice planes on exhibit. Of course I wanted to see the SR-71, but they had some other really nice stuff. The stand outs were three F-16’s, F-15, F-22 (first one that I’ve seen in person), the minuteman missile exhibit, and the B-1. This is the only SR-71C model every made.
After leaving the museum I took off to Denver. As soon as I got into the hills on the West side of SLC the van started acting up. I got a hill assist error and it would go into limp mode. I wouldn’t be able to accelerate up to highway speed and it wouldn’t shift to the higher gears. I was having to stop at least once an hour to shut the van off to clear the code and return it to normal driving. It was super annoying and there didn’t seem to be anything that would set it off. I did eventually get to Denver though.
