This post is mostly going to be a slideshow of the different breweries that I visited on my way up to my cousins place in Chico, CA. I left LA on the 11th stopping in Thousand Oaks, CA to play a round of frolf before heading up the coast. The first course that I went to was a pro course that would’ve been really fun if it was a field instead of desert brush everywhere. I played the first four holes and spent more time looking for my disc than actually throwing. I promptly walked back to the van to find a different course. The next course was much easier and a double round of nine holes. There were a couple guys that I stopped and talked to for a little bit that were pretty fun.

On the 12th I started making my way up the coast. I stopped by the Channel Islands National Park. The visitor center was closed due to a power outage unfortunately. I wasn’t able to get a sticker or stamp for my parks book. I took the 101 up through the mountains and was on my last gallon of gas by the time I got through them. I went to COLD Coast Brewing Company for my free beer. I thought about staying here for trivia, but the beer was just ok and I didn’t have anyone to talk to there.

I kept heading North for about 20 miles and stopped at Naughty Oak Brewing Company. This is were I met a super interesting, kind of crazy old guy names Wes. He is a self proclaimed genius. I ended up getting most of his life story and talking until close. He had some crazy stories.

Yesterday I hung out in the Alameda area. I started at Almanac Beer Company. This was a really nice brewery with an awesome patio and party room. It was completely dead though. I suppose that’s what happens when you go to a brewery in the middle of the day during the week.

When I was sitting on the patio I saw the USS Hornet in the harbor. After finishing my beer I walked over to the Alameda Navy Air Museum. They were closed, but I still got a good shot of the Hornet and downtown San Fransisco.

After my walk around the airfield I headed East through the mountains to Lafayette, CA and Headlands Brewing. Lafayette is a cute little town that is apparently “more than just a library.” I still don’t know what that means. Headlands was a nice brewery that was part of a courtyard with some other businesses. Parking was horrible, but the everything else was great.

My last stop for the evening was Four Legs Brewing in Brentwood, CA. I was going to just get my free beer and take off, but there was bingo going on and I couldn’t turn that down. Their black IPA was really good and during the blackout round they put it on sale, awesome.
