Today I visited Salem, OR then went over to the coast. Salem and Eugene are kinda crappy cities. There are lots of homeless, this is a trend in Oregon. I walked around the capitol building and downtown before bouncing to the coast. There just wasn’t much around Salem.
I got to the coast around 4:30PM and worked my way down to Newport, OR before it got dark. This early sunset business is really annoying for seeing things in the day for a nighttime person. I found a parking lot that I could stay in all night then went to Newport Brewing Company and Bier One Brewing. Newport Brewing had cool artwork on the walls. It was more of a brewpub and Bier One was a brewery that didn’t brew beer. Bier One was in the middle of expanding so they were setting up their new equipment and only had a bunch of random local beers on tap.
